It’s not the subject, but the process...

As an artist, I am fortunate to have grown up on the Hamakua coast along with its unique landscapes, flowers, plants, sealife and its multitudes of cultural celebrations. The sameness is ever changing.
When I paint or print, it is not the subject, but the process of creating which is exciting. I strive to capture the spirit and essence of the subject rather than to produce a copy. With the use of shapes, color, layering of textures, lines and patterns, I capture my concept into contemporary images, which at times are more complex and lean toward the abstract. I like to capture “the spirit of the moment,” to “paint from the heart”. My art inspiration is life itself. I wish to share my vision and my celebration of life with you.
